I heard through the grapevine the other day that Taylor Swift had a new single out, and the sado-maschicistic side of me wandered over for a listen. Granted, my relationship with Ms. Swift has long been a tortured one, but I’ve recently been lightening up on past convictions, hoping to shed past baggage and gain fresh perspective free of unfounded prejudices. What I discovered in my internet perusals not only confirmed past opinions but also substantiated new ones (do I smell a new T. Swift post coming …).
Somehow Swift gets associated with my generation of a females, a voice sort of speak, but she’s the last person I want speaking for me. After my accosted eardrums courtesy of said new single, I went on to do a rapid search for female musical talent to remind myself that it really does exist. This playlist, one of my favorite yet, puts Ms. Swift to shame. Now these women are the voice of my generation:
